THE PRETTY GOOD BUDGET PROGRAM

PURPOSE OF KEEPING A BUDGET IS NOT TO MERELY RECORD TRANSACTIONS, BUT TO
FORECAST EXPENSES FOR THE YEAR AND ENSURE THERE ARE SUFFICIENT FUNDS AVAILABLE
TO COVER EACH OF THE PROJECTED EXPENSES.
I developed this program as a means of managing my own finances, mainly to ensure that I would have the necessary funds set aside to cover all my expenses. For several years I had maintained a budget using ledger books and calculating every transaction manually. When I began working with Spreadsheet programs, however, I realized that the use of formulas written into cells would be perfect for maintaining a budget, with formulas automatically calculating all the transactions. So, I gradually developed this program, the “PRETTY GOOD BUDGET PROGRAM”, and you can download it from this page and use it for FREE !
The information you will enter at the beginning of the program will immediately determine the HARSH REALITY of whether or not you are actually earning enough to cover your current expenses, and exactly how much money you must set aside from each pay cheque in order to cover each of your expenses for the year.
You may just be surprised to see that it is not only possible to survive on what you are earning, but also to have some money left over !
Before downloading the file you should create a new folder
your "My Documents" folder and name it "Budget".
Save the file to that folder or, if you prefer, just save it to your desktop.
FOR WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS:

The file you saved is a "Self Extracting Zipped" file. Locate the
file you saved to your computer and double-click on it. You may get a Security
Warning stating that the "publisher can not be verified" and, if you do, click
"run". You will be asked for a
location in which to save the files, so click on the "Browse" button
and navigate to the location where you wish to save the extracted files. Generally you
will choose either your Desktop or "My Documents". If you created a new folder
named "Budget", save them to that folder, My Documents/Budget.
Two files will be extracted...the spreadsheet budget program, "PRETTY GOOD
BUDGET Template V4" and a .pdf file, "PRETTY GOOD BUDGET V4 USER

This program is designed in Microsoft Excel, the Spreadsheet program in Microsoft Office. If you do not have Excel installed on your computer you can download a FREE office suite, "LibreOffice" which contains a Spreadsheet program, "CALC" that is compatible with Excel.

The USER GUIDE for this program is a ".pdf" file, so you will need Adobe Reader to view this manual.
